Clarks (shoe shop)

C&J Clark, trading as Clarks, is a shoe brand founded in Street in 1825 by Cyrus Clark, who took his brother James as an apprentice. It enjoyed rapid expansion after WW2, buying several rivals in the 1970s. It was itself acquired by private equity firm LionRock Capital in 2020, ending Clark family control.

2025 - Clarks celebrated its 200th year since establishment by Cyrus Clark. To mark the event, it produced a book and a video and opened a new flagship store in London's Tottenham Court Road with a revised logo. The new logo was additional, however, and did not replace that in general use (e.g. by its Reading store).
