Building:
Part of the Blagrave Estate's 1869 Shopping Parade

Part of a shopping parade built for the Blagrave Estate in 1869 at a cost of almost £4000. It was designed by local architects JT & W Brown. No. 87 retains its original upper brick façade, while that of No. 88 was modified in the 1930s. The parade was locally listed by Reading Borough Council in 2022.

T-Mobile (telecommunications retailer)

T-Mobile UK was founded by Mercury Communications as Mercury One2One in 1993 and acquired by Deutsche Telekom in 1999, which rebranded it as T-Mobile in line with its other mobile telecoms subsidiaries. In 2010, T-Mobile UK merged with France Télécom subsidiary Orange to form EE.

2006 - Birthdays was closed by owners Clintons Cards, which had its own shop at No. 102. Nos. 87-88 were taken over by telecoms retailer T-Mobile, which had begun to operate its own shops directly instead of through appointed agents. This left former agent Ace Contact at Nos, 68-69 to struggle as an independent retailer.

Blue Arrow (recruitment agency)

Blue Arrow is a recruitment and temping agency founded in London in 1959 by Sheila Birch. It was renamed to Blue Arrow in 1982. It was acquired by the Corporate Services Group in 1996, which became Impellam in 2008. In 2023, Impellam sold Blue Arrow to Twenty 20 Capital.
