This was erected in 1968, replacing two separate older buildings (Nos. 70-71 and No. 72, respectively). It is a typical 1960s concrete rectahedron.

Boots Opticians is a chain of retail opticians established in 1983 as a subsidiary of Boots the Chemist. It absorbed its much older rival, Dollond & Aitchison (est. 1750), in 2009.

 

Building:
Nos. 68-69, Broad Street

Built in the 1890s in the Norman Shaw style. As an interesting example of that style, this building was Grade II listed in 1978.
