Building:
Part of Nos. 70-72, Broad Street

This was erected in 1968, replacing two separate older buildings (Nos. 70-71 and No. 72, respectively). It is a typical 1960s concrete rectahedron.

Dollond & Aitchison (optician and/or optometrist)

Dollond & Aitchison was a chain of retail opticians established in London in 1750. In 2009 it merged with Boots Opticians and all its branches had been rebranded as Boots by 2015.

 

Building:
Nos. 68-69, Broad Street

Built in the 1890s in the Norman Shaw style. As an interesting example of that style, this building was Grade II listed in 1978.

Ace Contact (telecommunications retailer)

Ace Contact Ltd was a mobile phone retail company incorporated in 1992 and dissolved in 2015. It was an official dealer for One2One/T-mobile during the early to mid-2000s, later acting as an independent mobile store after T-mobile refocussed on operating its own shops.

2007 - Ace Contact Ltd began the process of winding up its business. It halted this several times, then recommenced, but its days were basically numbered.
